Clear, colourless solution with no preservative odour. Should pour cleanly without bubbles or particulates. Mark the date of first puncture on the vial.

Storage

Room temperature unopened. After first puncture: room temp OK; refrigerated extends use to ~30 days. Cap sterile and label puncture date.

Don't use if: Benzyl alcohol allergy · Neonates (benzyl alcohol toxicity)

Side effects

Benzyl alcohol allergy is rare but documented; switch to preservative-free sterile water if confirmed. Contraindicated in neonates due to gasping syndrome from benzyl alcohol toxicity.

What it does

Sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol preservative, the standard solvent for reconstituting most freeze-dried peptides. Benzyl alcohol at 0.9% is bacteriostatic (prevents bacterial multiplication) without being cytotoxic at the volumes used.
